The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has recently announced three voluntary recalls of recliners, gel fuel and range tops due to injury risks.
Recliners with Ottomans Recalled
Big Lots issued a recall of 375,000 Microfiber Glider Recliners with Ottomans and Leather Glider Recliners with Ottomans because a gap between the moving parts can allow access to toddlers and infants, posing an entrapment hazard. Additionally other exposed moving parts can pose finger pinching and crushing hazards to children and adults.
To date, the agency has received two reports of young children trapped at the neck of the chair, but in both incidents the children were released and did not suffer permanent injury.

Consumers are urged to discontinue use of the chairs and to contact Big Lots for a free repair kit by calling (866) 244-5687.
Pourable Gel Fuel
Evergreen Enterprises recalled Fireside Gel Fuel Bottles because the gel fuel can ignite unexpectedly and splatter onto people and nearby objects. This hazard can occur if the consumer doesn’t see the flame or is unaware the firepot is still ignite. Gel fuel splatters and ignites can be fatal to consumers in serious cases.
To date, there have been no incidents reported in connection to this recall.
The recall includes pourable gel fuels packaged in 30-ounce plastic bottles with the following model number and UPC:
Fireside Gel Fuel – 30-ounce
Model: 5G001 UPC: 746851581199
Fireside Gel Fuel Citronella 30-ounce
Model: 5G002 UPC: 746851581205
Consumers should stop using the recalled gel fuel and return it for a refund. Call Evergreen at (877) 558-1511 for more information.
Gas Rangetop with Grill
General Electric (GE) issued a voluntary recall of GE Monogram Pro Rangetop with Grill in the U.S. and Canada, because the burners operating on liquefied petroleum (“LP”) may fail to ignite or light if the gas control knob is left in position between OFF and LITE, posing a delayed ignition or explosion.
The company has received six reports of explosions, including reports of damage to cabinets beneath the rangetop. No injuries or fires have been reported.

Consumers operating the product on LP gas are advised to turn off the gas supply and discontinue use. Call GE at (866) 645-3956 to schedule a free repair or visit them online at www.geappliances.com/products/recall.
